Coach Lara Kahler

Coach Lara Kahler is the Founder and Head Coach of And1 Academy. She has 28 years of experience coaching a mix of basketball and soccer at the recreational and competitive levels, both boys and girls, ages 4 years old through the high school level. Coach Kahler believes that in addition to building basketball skills it is critical these young athletes develop strong teamwork and character traits that will carry with them for the rest of their careers and lives. She takes great pride in working with all her athletes to develop short and long term goals and helping them achieve their fullest potential. She believes strongly that even at the most competitive levels there must be an element of fun to develop and maintain in these young athletes a love for the sport that will extend their careers to the highest level they want to pursue.

As a player, Coach Kahler captained her Varsity high school team and led the San Fernando Valley league in Los Angeles in assists and free throw percentage. As a 2-time CIF semi-finalist, Coach Kahler learned to compete at a very high level and recognized what it would take at an early age to help kids reach their highest potential. As a senior, she was recognized as the team’s “coach on the floor” and immediately found a love for motivating young athletes, taking her first coaching job as a freshman in college.

Coach Kahler has a track record of success, winning several league and tournament titles with her basketball and soccer teams. She attributes all of this to the hard work her kids put in, their competitive spirits and their ability to play as a team.

Coach Kahler has served on the volunteer boards of San Marcos Youth Basketball (8 years as the league’s President), San Marcos Youth Soccer and the San Marcos Youth Sports Council. She also runs some very popular youth basketball clinics in the summer and winter seasons which over 2000 kids have participated in.
